Who is this evaluation for? Dr. Menousek provides psychological evaluations for toddlers, children, adolescents, and young adults (i.e., starting as low as 12 months old up through 26 years old. She does not see adults.
What ages do you see?
Dr. Menousek sees patients from 12 months through age 26. If your child is younger than 12 months but you have concerns, don't wait, give us a call, and we will schedule for when your child is 12 months old.
How do I know if my child needs an evaluation for autism or ADHD?
If your child's school has raised concerns or you've noticed challenges with attention, behavior, social interaction, or learning that just don't seem to be resolving on their own, an evaluation can help provide clarity. You don't need a formal diagnosis or referral to reach out. If you're not sure, give us a call, and we can help you figure out if an evaluation makes sense.
Do I need a referral from my child's doctor?
In most cases, families can reach out directly without a referral. However, some insurance plans require a referral from your child's pediatrician before they'll cover the evaluation. We recommend checking with your insurance provider ahead of time, and if you're not sure, just give us a call, and we can help.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Dr. Menousek accepts Medicaid and most major insurance plans. We recommend contacting your insurance provider before your appointment to confirm your specific coverage. List of insurance accepted by Dr. Menousek’s office.
How long does the process take?
The evaluation itself is a single two-hour appointment. Families typically receive their child's report approximately two weeks after their initial appointment, depending on how long it takes for their insurance to approve the psychological testing.
Why is the evaluation only two appointments? Most evaluations last multiple appointments for numerous hours — is this evaluation less comprehensive?
No. Dr. Menousek has over 10 years of experience in completing Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Disability testing. The appointment doesn't last as long as other providers because she is more efficient in the process, cutting out assessments that are not needed given your child's presenting concerns, and drawing on her knowledge of exactly which measures are necessary to confirm a diagnosis of Autism, ADHD, or Intellectual Disability.
If the appointment is only two hours, how can you assure this will be enough time for a comprehensive and accurate evaluation?
For many individuals, the two-hour appointment provides sufficient time to gather the information and testing needed. However, for more complex presentations, there are times when additional testing or appointments are recommended. If, during the evaluation, it becomes clear that more information would be helpful to ensure a comprehensive assessment, we can absolutely discuss scheduling additional time.
Can it be ADHD and Autism at the same time?
Yes, it's not uncommon for children to receive more than one diagnosis. The evaluation is designed to look at the full picture so nothing gets missed.
If I have two children who need an evaluation, can you see them at the same time?
Yes and no. They can be scheduled back-to-back, and both children can be present at both appointments for up to four hours. If you have more than two children who need an evaluation, they will need to be scheduled on two different days.
Who can diagnose Autism?
Not everyone who evaluates your child can provide an official diagnosis. Professionals qualified to diagnose Autism include:
Licensed Psychologists
Neurologists
Developmental Pediatricians
Pediatricians with specialized training in Autism
School evaluations and therapists cannot provide an official clinical diagnosis. Dr. Menousek is a licensed psychologist whose evaluations provide an official diagnosis accepted by schools, medical providers, and insurance companies.
What happens after the evaluation?
Before you leave your appointment, you'll schedule a follow-up telehealth call, typically about 45 minutes. Dr. Menousek will walk you through the full report and answer your questions. You'll receive a detailed written report as a PDF that you can share with your child's school, pediatrician, or any other providers on your child's team.
Does Dr. Menousek provide therapy, medication management, or evaluations for Bipolar, Schizophrenia, or Personality Disorders?
No. Given the need and waitlists for Autism evaluations and Dr. Menousek's focus on pediatrics, she limits her practice to Autism, ADHD, and Intellectual Testing. She is unable to provide therapy services, but can refer families to providers in the community for therapy and psychiatric services when requested after the evaluation.
Does my child need to be at the results appointment?
No, the follow-up results call is via telehealth, and your child does not need to be present.
Can I share the results with my child's school?
Yes, the written report is provided as a PDF and is yours to share. Most families share it directly with their child's school to support accommodations, IEP development, or other services.
What if I'm having trouble with the patient portal?

What is your cancellation policy?
If you miss your appointment or cancel the same day, you'll be placed at the bottom of the scheduling queue. If something comes up, please reach out as soon as possible.
Where are you located?
Dr. Menousek's office is located at Modern Works, a shared workspace in Omaha, right off the interstate. It can look a little unexpected from the outside, don't worry, you're in the right place. About a week before your appointment you'll receive a text with specific instructions on what to do when you arrive.
